Name
Alison Roche
How long have you been a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate)?
I have been a CASA volunteer for 8 years. Time really flies!
What inspired you to become a CASA volunteer?
During my search for volunteer opportunities when I retired, I attended an adoption celebration while visiting my sister – who is a Social Worker – in Washington state. I met some wonderful CASA volunteers during that celebration. The DCF office hosts this annual celebration for the children who have been adopted during the year, and it includes all the individuals that were involved in their journeys to adoption. It was such an uplifting celebration, and I thought becoming a CASA volunteer would be a perfect fit.
What do you want our supporters to know about your background?
I have always worked for large corporations and maintained very close relationships with my coworkers. I am deeply invested and always in for the long haul, which I feel prepared me well for this role. I am also able to forge the important connections needed in this role.
What are your interests and favorite hobbies?
I have five grandchildren. They live in Pennsylvania and Virginia; therefore I travel quite a bit for visits. I also love to travel with friends, so I always have a bag packed! I love sunsets and selfies! I also make pottery and have a full home studio. I have always shared that passion of art with the CASA youth I have served over the years.
Is there anything else you would like to share with our community?
I love my role as a CASA volunteer, and I am thankful to be a consistent, trusted figure for these children! I look forward to all of my visits and feel as though I make an impact for the children on the cases to which I have been appointed.
