Name
Lisa LoBianco
How long have you been a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate)?
8 years
What inspired you to become a CASA volunteer?
I moved to Massachusetts from Connecticut in 2017 with two young children. I didn’t know anyone, and their father traveled a lot for work. While I needed to navigate my family through the transition of moving, I was also in need of something for myself without committing to full-time work. I wanted a volunteer experience that would challenge me at a higher level so I could utilize my past professional skills. One day I passed a billboard for CASA Project Worcester County and it looked interesting. The rest is history.
What do you want our supporters to know about your background?
In addition to my volunteer work as a CASA, I work for Big Brothers Big Sisters as a Family Engagement Specialist. The two roles really complement each other well and improve my efforts and advocacy with both organizations.
What are your interests and favorite hobbies?
Being a mother is one of my most fulfilling accomplishments. I have two teenagers. One is getting ready for college, the other will be learning to drive soon. When I started at CASA, they were 7 and 8 years old. In my free time, I enjoy traveling with my children to the White Mountains to ski, hike, and be at peace with nature. I also love visiting with my family in Connecticut as often as I can.
Is there anything else you would like to share with our community?
I love being a CASA volunteer. The rewards are immediate and ongoing in this role. The support, supervision, and being able to make a truly positive and life-changing difference in a child’s life is priceless.
